Base Plus Program

 

CARES Chicago's Base Plus Program is funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Rehabilitation Services (IDHS/DRS), and supported by local businesses, industry and other community-based organizations.

Base Plus focuses on individualized placement and positions obtained cover a wide range of professional, skilled, semi-skilled and entry-level occupations in the corporate and service industries.  Companies benefit through the ability to recruit and retain prescreened, well-qualified and motivated workers.  CARES Chicago takes careful preparation in matching applicant skills to the need of the current employment market.

 

Services Include:

 

Individualized Placement

Vocational counseling and interviewing to ensure that the abilities, interest and needs of each person are matched with the job requirements of specific employers.  Eligibility depends on continued proof of job readiness.

 

Job Development

Through site visits and job analysis, CARES Chicago's professional staff provides consultation to employers interested in hiring qualified individuals with disabilities.

 

Employer Referral

  • Prescreening of candidates to match job skills to specific openings.
  • Individually developed job tryouts and subsidized training in actual job settings enable the employer and potential employee to test and prove qualifications before making a hiring decision
  • On-Job Evaluation/On-Job Training

Follow-Up

On-call availability to employer/employee to support and ensure successful job retention.
