Youth Transitional Employment Program
The Youth
Transitional Employment Program is a system
of providing year-round comprehensive and transitional services
to both in-school and out-of-school youth with disabilities
between the ages of 14-21 who reside within the city of
Chicago.
CARES Chicago's
transition counselors provide intense individualized attention
to each participant in the program. In order
to prepare the participants for the world of work, the model of
services coordinated by the counselor incorporates the
continuation in secondary education and achievement of a high
school diploma/GED as the first step in each student?s career
plan.
The CARES Chicago
transition counselor's primary objective is to provide a viable
opportunity for career exploration that will allow the
participant to evaluate his or her interest in and desire to
pursue a specific vocational area. This can
occur through involvement in volunteer, internship,
apprenticeship and/or skills training programs.
On-site supervision and training of the participant will
be provided. Training stipends may be
provided based on funding availability.
