We need you to...

Know: Cares Chicago, formerly IAM CARES, is a non-profit organization that has been providing workforce development services to individuals with disabilities since 1983. As evidenced by a proven record of achievement, growth, and improvement since its inception twenty-eight years ago, the organization has progressively improved its services to individuals with disabilities, particularly those with the most severe disabilities and other complicating employment barriers.

Listen: Did you know that: In August, 2011 the unemployment rate of persons with a disability was 16.1%, compared with 8.8% for persons with no disability, not seasonally adjusted. The labor force participation for people with a disability was 21%, compared with 69.9% for people with no disability.(United States Department of Labor-Bureau of Labor Statistics: www.dol.gov/odep)

Care! Today's tough economic conditions make it difficult for us to meet the multiple needs of the client population that we serve without additional funds. I am writing to you to invite you to make a donation to CARES Chicago. There are many organizations that fundraise for worthy causes, and I hope that you will add CARES Chicago to the list of social service agencies you care about. Your donation will do so much to help sustain our mission to enhance the quality of life and self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities and other underserved populations.Thank you for your positive consideration of this request and note that any contribution you make will profoundly impact the successful outcomes for individuals with disabilities. All contributions to Cares Chicago are tax-deductible.

Sincerely, Alfredda Glover, Executive Director
